Hollenbeck Imagination Chapter

We are the “Mighty Jr. Riders” at Hollenbeck Middle School. Our Imagination Chapter is made up of 7th and 8th Grade students from Leadership Class. We have hosted two flagship Global Cardboard Challenges with Imagination Foundation on our school site (last year Caine Monroy of Caines’s Arcade made a surprise visit to us). Our students have collaborated with other organizations such as YouThink.org, in empowering and creating projects such as animation videos on student life, bullying, and other social issues.
We even started a “Lunch Buddy” Creative Play activities club, where students from our Chapter invite a friend to have lunch every Wednesday and explore, brainstorm ideas, and create–including making Cool Rockets with a little help from our science teachers. We also have school-wide activities designed and facilitated by students.

Hollenbeck Middle School | Los Angeles, CA
I am often referred to as “Mr. Hollenbeck” due to my passion and tireless commitment to Hollenbeck Middle School (LAUSD). Having been raised in Boyle Heights, I work hard to bring opportunities to youth that I didn’t have growing up. I believe this engages students in school and motivates them to participate in their community. Some of the opportunities I have spearheaded are our Edible Community Garden, Students Run LA Running Team, and Student Leadership. I also work throughout the summer for the “Summer Night Lights” program under the GRYD Foundation for Mayor Eric Garcetti at various parks in Los Angeles. In my spare time I enjoy running, art, 80s music and spending time with loved ones.
Fun facts: 1) I have run 7 marathons. 2) I enjoy going to concerts.
