Nature Explore
Imagination Chapter
Lincoln, Nebraska
The Nature Explore Imagination Chapter meets in the outdoor classroom at Dimensions Education Programs. Preschool children, age 3-5 years old are discovering their passions and finding new ways to express themselves with a variety of hands-on materials. Nature seems to open up possibilities to wonder, investigate, and create so we strive to be outdoors daily.
As teachers and Chapter Leaders we see ourselves as fellow explorers and co-creators with children as we learn and play together. We delight in the ingenuity and inventiveness children practice when creating forts, spaceships, restaurants, motorcycles, fishing ponds, catapults and so much more with natural loose parts!

In my role with the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation/Nature Explore, I devote my time to initiatives that create connections between families and nature as well as expand quality educational opportunities for children. With a Master’s degree in early childhood special education, I coach teachers, develop Nature Explore resources, and coordinate research initiatives. The highlight of my workday almost always is time I spend in outdoor classrooms with children and teachers. As a child, I grew up on a Nebraska farm and enjoyed helping my dad. My husband and I love to spend time with our three children who amaze and delight us with their adventures!
Favorite day of the year: International Mud Day / Food I would win an eating challenge with: Brownies

Dimensions Education Programs | Lincoln, NE
I have been teaching at Dimensions since 1994. My additional roles include serving as a research analysis team member and supporting our Nature Explore Classrooms. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with an endorsement in Special Education and a minor in Music. I believe that helping children find out who they are and what they have to contribute to the world is the most important role of educators. Children have taught me how important it is to provide an array of plenty of interesting natural materials and allow learners the time they need to blossom with support. Supporting the imagination of children is exciting because their involvement is whole-hearted and tells us more about them than we could ever know otherwise.
Favorite obscure recipe: Homemade PawPaw Ice Cream / Section I browse for in bookstores: Bird and Insect Field-Guides
