Our Imaginations Chapters take place once a week at our school Gimnasio Fontana in Bogotá, Colombia, during a class time called What if. We have also been able to work a couple of times with a group of kids from a foundation called Fundación Buena Semilla in a neighborhood called, Barrio Egipto, also in Bogotá. We have been able to explore creativity in very different ways and a lot of the ideas on what to do and what to create come from the kids. From using cardboard, plastic, recycled materials all the way up to the very innovative littleBits, we have been able to explore Creative Play, improved our teamwork and see what our imagination can do!

My name is Valerie Fernández Díaz and I’m from Bogotá, Colombia. I studied Languages and Sociocultural Studies. I love getting to know other people, new cultures, new places and different languages: which is why traveling if one of the things I like the most. I’m a Christian, I love God above all and I have always enjoyed working with kids at church and as a volunteer in different projects. Nevertheless, a couple of years ago I started working as a 6th grade Social Studies teacher and to be honest, I didn’t think I would like it and enjoy it this much! I look forward to being part of this year’s Cardboard Challenge!
Fun facts:
1) I never thought I could learn so much from teaching. 2) I love reading and always have a book with me; one of my favorite authors is J.R.R. Tolkien.
