Westport Imagination Chapter
Westport, Connecticut
The Imagination Chapter of Westport’s first year ran from September 2014 to May 2015, and was generously hosted by The Westport Library. A merry band of a dozen middle school and high school students, inquiring into creative things like improv comedy games, sketch journals, making towns out of paper, making costumes out of paper bags, tinkering with electronics using littleBits, building with cardboard using Makedo connectors, testing augmented reality using the colAR app, and building giant puppets which we paraded around the Westport Mini Maker Faire on April 25, 2015.

Nicknamed “the paper and tape princess” as a kid, I majored in Fine Art at Vassar, earned my Master’s at Bank Street, and began a joyful teaching career. My students and I have made stop-motion Lego films, painted Australian Dreamtime images, explored 3D printing, enacted mock trials, simulated archaeological digs, improvised comedy scenes, and laughed every day. The Maker movement caught my attention in 2010, and I helped launch our Westport Mini Maker Faire, with our own branch of Caine’s Arcade.
